The Submariner's Association of Canada (Central) is a non- profit group formed as a distinct Canadian Submariner's Association. We took our lead from Submariner's Association of Canada (West)  who the year previous to our formation (1996) formed the founding chapter of the Submariner's Association of Canada in 1995 in Victoria, British Columbia.

We, like the group who formed Submariner's Association of Canada (West), believed it was time that we had a submariner's association that was uniquely Canadian thus in 1996 formed the Submariner's Association of Canada (Central) branch in Ottawa, Ontario.

The third chapter Submariner's Association of Canada (East)  in Halifax, Nova Scotia was formed in December 2001 mostly from members of the U.K. organization Submariner Association -Canadian Branch (see below)) This completed the link across the country and SAOC now with branches in Victoria, Halifax and Ottawa we have become a truly national organization. Each branch is autonomous with its own set of bylaws structured to meet their particular requirements and a common constitution which loosely binds us together as a common organization.

Most of our members were members at one time or another of  SOCA (Submarine Old Comrades Association) in Halifax, Nova Scotia, a U.K. organization which subsequently reformed as  the Submariner's Association in 1999.  Although the names were simular we were separate and distinct groups.
A strong bond with Submariner's Association in the UK remains with frequent correspondence between us and reciprocal privileges between our organizations other than voting.
