 Minutes of the Monthly Meeting 
21 June 2005

1.  The President, George Sullivan, brought the meeting to order at 19:00.  The following members were present:

2. The previous minutes were published on the website and with our Newsletter. The minutes were reviewed and Peter Bowen made a motion to accept the minutes as read. Ted Stiles seconded, the motion carried.

There no new applications for membership.

4.  Reports:

a.
Treasurer:  The Treasurer, Gerry Rutherford, was not present due to employment travel.

b.
Membership:  Fred Schatz was not present.  The President acknowledged a current membership of 205 paid up for 2005. 
c.
 Entertainment: Peter Heppleston gave a report of the progress of the AGM and BBQ. The planning for the Wives Cruise has progressed and an invitation sent out to the members.  HMCS Carleton has been booked for the events, with Bartender and PMC.  Menu to be determined at the executive meeting July 13th at the Royal Oak, Blair Road. 
d  Slops: George Sullivan reported that he has started to build the inventory for the Annual Bar-B-Q weekend.

5.  Correspondence

  The Secretary, Ron Ewen, reported no correspondence for the month.
6.  Old Business:

a.
AGM:  The Annual General Meeting Will be held on Saturday August 20 at 1330 at HMCS Carleton C&PO’s mess. All the Executives will have served their tenure, and all Executive positions will be open.
b.
BBQ: the Annual BBQ will be held immediately following the AGM.  The following members make up the executive committee: George Sullivan, Peter Wilkins, Gerry Rutherford, Ron Ewen, Ted Stiles, and Gord Burns. The first executive meeting will take place at the Royal Oak (Blair Road) on Wednesday July 13th at 1150 for 1200.
7.  New Business


None

8. Monthly Draw:  No monthly draw was held due to the absence of Fred Schatz, keeper of the draw buttons.  The pot remains at $49.50.

9. It was moved by Ted Stiles, seconded by Peter Bowen that the meeting be adjourned at 19:20.  The motion carried.


Chicoutimi BOI member Captain (N) Pat Finn gave a presentation on the Chicoutimi BOI findings. The presentation was riveting, with details given on both the technical nature of the accident and the human aspect.  Captain Finn’s description on how and why the events unfolded as they did brought home the tragedy of the injuries, and the training and courage of the crew. There were numerous questions from members, and all were answered in concise detail.  This was a unique and special evening for those members attending.


Future meetings:  Annual Meet and greet to be held August 19 at 1900; AGM and BBQ August 20 at 1330; Breakfast August 21 (time and location TBA).  Monthly meetings: Tuesday September 20, 2005; Tuesday October 18, 2005; Tuesday November 22, 2005.

NOTES:    Annual Bar-B-Q Weekend to be held August 19, 20, 21, 2005 at HMCS Carleton.

Any donations of items to raffle off for our annual BBQ would be greatly appreciated, corporate stuff, ball caps,  “T” shirts etc would be ideal. Please contact  Fred Schatz if you have anything.
