MINUTES OF MONTHLY MEETING

1. The President brought the Meeting to order
at 19:35 hours. The following members were present:

2. The following names were received for membership
and are now members of the Submariners Association of Canada
(Central).

3. The minutes of the previous meeting 19
Nov 1998 were read by the secretary. There were no omissions or errors.
Moved by the secretary that the minutes be adopted as
read. Seconded by Bert Houde.
Carried.
4. The treasurer was absent, nil report.
5. Reports:
Entertainment: The entertainment chairman
said we had a good turnout at the last luncheon (35 to 40). Next
luncheon has not been planned yet.
Slops: President indicated that there are about
12 people interested in jackets.Any further orders please contact
George, orders are going in end Feb.
President stated we had received email from our fellow
member Geoff Mawdesley stationed in HMS Dolphin, and
he will keep us informed on the progress of training
for submariners on the Upholder class and any items of interest.
Larry Pike who is Cox'n of the first boat will also keep
us informed on progress.
6. Old Business:
a. The printer and scanner were purchased
and the secretary indicated there should be no excuse for bad quality
pictures in the newsletter.
b. The charitable status was looked into by Mike
Young and currently we do not qualify.
c. Sherm Embree gave a report on museum status.
He indicated that we are now volunteers for the Canadian
War Museum and the new museum will be built in Rockcliffe
scheduled to open in 2003. He is in direct communication
with the director of the museum, along with Mike Young,
and they will keep us informed on progress. Mike Young
will be giving a report in a couple of months on the
feasibility study of having a complete submarine in Ottawa. Details
of the first two meetings are outlined in the newsletter.
7. New Business: Nil
It was moved that the meeting be adjourned at 20:10 by
Ron Kolodij , seconded by Gerry Rutherford. Carried.
The winner of the 50/50 draw was Peter Keleher,
the member was not present. The sum of $45.50 is carried over to
the next meeting.
Next meeting is on 16 Feb 99, future meetings
23 Mar 99, 20 Apr 99, 22 Jun 99.
