 Minutes of the Monthly Meeting 
18 April 2006
 
1. The President, Peter Wilkins, brought the meeting to order at 19:30 and welcomed the members present. A minute silence was held for our soldiers killed on duty and the President read a short prayer.

There were no applications for membership in SAOC (Central) this month

The previous minutes were read. A motion was made by Bill Bradshaw, and seconded by Peter Bowen, to accept the minutes as read. The motion was carried.

4.  Reports:

a.
Treasurer: Gord Burns made the treasurer’s report, our current net worth is $6,811.70 It was moved by Gord Burns to accept the report as read, and seconded by George Sullivan. Motion carried.

b.
Membership: Reported by Fred Schatz that we have 199 paid members.
 
c.
Entertainment: Peter Heppelston was not present, no entertainment reported.

d Slops: George Sullivan reported that he has new dolphin pins in stock at $10 each. And he is looking into new nametags and window stickers.

e.
Our NCVA rep. Peter Wilkins, reported that the Waterloo ON. is building a Veterans Memorial and are looking for support.

f.
Web Page: Reported by George Sullivan that the transition over to Stu Glen was proceeding well.

5.  Correspondence


No correspondence reported.

6.  Old Business:

a.
Top Student Award, Motioned by George Sullivan to award permanent custody of the award to SAOC East and that the financial support be discussed after conferring with SAOC West. Moved by Gord Burns and seconded by Terry Jones. Motion Carried.

b.
Musee de la mer: Reported by the President that S/M Middleton and S/M McCracken had each donated $100 for the Onondaga Project.

7.  New Business

a.
Battle of the Atlantic Sunday, Terry Jones will be Laying the wreath at the Legion Ottawa Hull Branch. Bill Black will be representing KVA and President Peter Wilkins for SOAC Central at the Cenotaph

b.
Sick and Visiting: Reported that Keith Voller is doing well and George Sullivan has a nice cast. If anyone knows of  an ailing comrade please be sure to inform someone on the executive committee.

c.
SAOC West Secretary Bob Emery Presented Admiral McLean with a life time membership to the SAOC West.

8. 50/50 Draw: $10.00 was added to the 50/50 from this meeting for a total of $83.00. Rob Quaia won but was not present to receive.

9. It was moved by George Sullivan, and seconded by Gord Burns that this meeting be adjourned at 20:20. The motion was carried.
